Student wins entrepreneurship competition with “Gluten Free Foodie” app
Southern Illinois University senior Alex Hutchinson is making waves with his app, “Gluten Free Foodie”.
He participated in his university’s annual “CEO (Collegiate Entrepreneurs Organization) National Elevator Pitch” competition, where a contestant has 90 seconds (the average length of an elevator ride) to present their business idea to a panel of judges.
Hutchinson won a paid trip to the national CEO conference at the beginning of this month. More than 100 students applied to pitch, he was one of sixty chosen to participate.
He placed fourth and received $500 to create his app which “will revolutionize the dining experience for the gluten-free community.”
According to an interview with Hutchinson, the app “offers safe, gluten-free procedures to assure safe, gluten-free preparation of foods cooked at home,” according to Hutchinson.
